Dr Emmanuel James is a graduate of St. Johns Medical College,Bangalore and a post graduate from the University of Mumbai. He was inducted into the Armed Forces Medical Services (Navy) and subsequently specialized in Endoscopic surgery and Cochlear implant surgery ( Bionic Ear Institute, Melbourne, Australia).

This senior doctor has over 44 years ofexperience in the medical profession ofwhich 35 years have been as a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and Head and Neck surgery. He has served in several Command hospitals ofthe Armed forces(including the Armed Forces Medical College,Pune) as a senior specialist and as Professor and Head ofthe Department ofENT and Head and Neck surgery and was instrumental in setting up three Cochlear Implant Centres and training several Cochlear implant surgeons.

With a teaching experience of over 30years in the specialty of ENT Dr Emmanuel James has trained over 30 post graduate students and 7 Cochlear implant surgeons of the Armed Forces Medical Services. He has authored several articles and research publications and been the Principal Investigator in 6 Armed Forces Research Projects.

At St.Martha’s Hospital Dr James continues to actively participate and oversee the clinical and surgical activities ofthe ENT department and personally performs a wide variety of surgical procedures. He is also committed to and directing the training and research activities ofthe post graduate students pursuing the DNB courses at this hospital.
