DOTS & Community Medicine

Community Medicine

Community Medicine Department (CMD) serves population groups that are socially oppressed, marginalized segments of society such as rag pickers / waste handlers and conservancy workers, orphans confined in remand homes, demoralized remorseful under trials & prisoners, economically backward migratory labourers, nutritionally famished children, mentally challenged individuals, deserted women / isolated senior citizens, nomads (hakki-pikki) & vagrants and other underprivileged segments of the society.

It has achieved a rare feat of conducting > 1000 free medical camps in and around Bangalore over the last 5 yrs. The Mobile team have diligently served the most diverse and underprivileged segments of the society; traversed across length and breadth of Bangalore and NOT a single slum was left untouched. The CMD strongly believes Mobile camps are the most cost-effective strategy to reach the urban masses.
